Entry Description

The lighting design for Ami + Wood Ear, one of the most exclusive new dining destinations in Hong Kong, is meticulously crafted to fulfill the client's vision of creating a remarkable experience that exudes exclusivity and sophistication. The lighting design plays a crucial role in creating the desired ambiance and elevating the overall dining experience. The project incorporates targeted accent lighting to highlight specific elements within the space, such as tables, artwork, and architectural features. This approach not only adds a layer of visual interest but also provides a sense of intimacy for the discerning clientele. A key highlight is the specially curated whisky bar, catering to the preferences of a demanding clientele. Lighting fixtures are strategically placed to draw attention to the bottles and create a captivating display to enhance the unique atmosphere and showcase the exquisite collection of whiskies. The lighting design in this area creates a warm and inviting glow, contributing to a luxurious and refined ambiance. Fixtures were carefully selected to seamlessly blend with the interior design, ensuring that the lighting elements do not detract from the overall aesthetic allowing the beautifully crafted interior and the curated whisky to take center stage while the lighting subtly enhances the space.
Sustainability Approach

The lighting design for Ami + Wood Ear is carefully considered to create an experience that is curated to the diner and not just the space. Through the use of wireless dimming control there is an immediate advantage to construction by not necessitating lengthy cable runs as well as creating an easy user experience by allowing control directly from an app via a handheld smart device. Additionally, the use of remote-controlled fixtures that can be wirelessly focused and adjusted via smart device helps to accommodate a wide variety of dining and event set ups, eliminating the need to install multiple lighting options that do not get used majority of the time. By this method one truly maximises impact with a minimal footprint.
