Entry Description

The interior concept is inspired by the golden city of the lantern festival. We challenged the context of lighting beyond its technical requirements by infusing the concepts perfectly into the design narrative.

The lighting strategy involved exploring various linear and diffused lighting techniques to elevate the space with an airy feel while highlighting its golden hues. Light sources were used in an open manner with lampshades removed to create a play of light and shadow.

We adopted a quiet approach where fixtures were intentionally positioned for functional use only. Adjustable downlights were used in paired configurations at different beam angles to provide flexibility and kept the ceiling clutter-free. Concealed linear lights were positioned along the perimeter to softly bathe the textured walls, creating seamless transitions between distinct spaces.

The biggest challenge faced was achieving a balance between rich textures, wooden finishes, and decorative pendants to create visual interest with rhythmic ambiance. This task was further complicated by the constraints of alternative fitting styles, beam angles, and color temperatures.

Despite the various constraints, we successfully created a cohesive and visually stunning experience that engages visitors evoking a wider range of emotions.
