Entry Description

With a singular vision of creating an inviting space that evokes a sense of solace and belonging, Cleaver Residence is the product of a collaborative effort between the Owner, Architect, and Lighting Designers.

This stunning residence boasts of tasteful interior and exterior design that is elevated by a combination of thought-provoking lighting design and a sophisticated luminaire selection.

The Lighting Designer’s simple yet effective vision was to create sensory experiences throughout the residence.
Points of drama, a pièce de résistance in each of the primary spaces, and use of accent lighting to enhance surface finishes and textural elements were conscious design choices.

Reliance on secondary lighting sources such as vertical surface grazers, indirect cove lighting, and millwork lighting using custom extrusions aims to provide a sense of safety and comfort in the primary living spaces.

Floor-to-ceiling windows and doors allow for ample daylighting.
A slatted facade helps create random rhythmic tree shadows on the curving interior stairwell.

In conjunction with the spilled interior lighting, a fireplace and mobile floor lighting elements envelop the exterior gathering spaces in a soft, warm glow that would help people unwind.

Cleaver Residence is a collection of passionately designed and crafted interior and exterior elements.
Sustainability Approach

Cleaver Residence promotes sustainability by implementing various strategies across the multiple design elements such as lighting, materiality and smart home systems to name a few.
One of the approaches is to prioritize energy-efficient lighting technologies by using higher efficacy LED lighting, which not only provide sufficient, quality illumination but also consume less power compared to the traditional light sources that still find their way into Decorative luminaires.
Incorporating floor to ceiling windows provide ample daylighting. Smart shade systems allow for an efficient utilization of daylighting.
The lighting design is further optimized by the use of dimming and controls devices such as wall mounted dimmer panels, timers and occupancy sensors.
A comprehensive and integrated approach to sustainability in designing allows Cleaver Residence to reduce its impact on the environment
