Entry Description

Lilies is a wall lamp and a series of explorations to find the interplay between lighting, perspective, color, and texture.

The two versions of the lamp, one made from 3D-printed TPU and the other from paper mache, offer distinct visual characteristics. The TPU version is translucent and flexible, creating a soft and diffused illumination when lit. In contrast, the paper mache version offers a rough and textured surface that can be colored or painted for customization.

Both versions of the lamp can be used as separate pieces, each with its own distinct charm and visual impact. Alternatively, we can also mix and match. Mixing and matching TPU and paper mache petals in the wall lamp's design is also an interesting way to add a layer of creativity, uniqueness, and visual interest. They create a delightful contrast of materials and textures. The translucency and flexibility of TPU can contrast with the rough and tactile feel of paper mache, creating an intriguing juxtaposition that results in sin a visually captivating, multi-dimensional lamp that draws attention and sparks conversation.
Sustainability Approach

The sustainability approach for this design/project involves selecting recyclable materials like 3D printed TPU and paper mache, incorporating energy-efficient LED lighting, prioritizing longevity and durability, promoting repairability and modularity, considering sustainable manufacturing practices, and raising user awareness. By minimizing waste, reducing energy consumption, and encouraging responsible use, the design aims to contribute to a circular economy, reduce carbon footprints, and enhance overall sustainability.
