Entry Description

Completed in June 2022, the project is a cultural and sports complex that serves competitions, art performances, and fitness activities for people. With a total of 64,900?, it has 4 floors above ground and 2 floors underground, accommodating a gymnasium, swimming pool, stadium, youth palace, cultural and sports facilities, and a fully covered roof garden. The design has transformed the well-functioning complex into an urban sky garden that is ecologically and organically integrated into the context through various architectural landscape elements. With a layout of one ring, three points, and three middle sections, the lighting planning has created a light, soft, and transparent night scene that is in line with the friendly and life-oriented connotation of public buildings. One ring refers to a bright inclusive circular street that connects all functions; three points are the swimming pool, youth palace, and sports facilities which form a triangle that responds to the urban view and riverside landscape; and three middle sections are open to the city in all directions, connecting the south-facing square and the riverside landscapes on the east and north sides. The design team strived to create a convenient and friendly public building and space system that offers rich experiences, facilitates a healthy lifestyle, and realizes a forward-looking, experiential and sustainable space.
Sustainability Approach

Through thoughtful lighting arrangements, the fully open roof garden and stilt ground floor have been designed to accommodate more citizens. This space is not only suitable for sports activities but also for leisurely strolls, dates, and chess games with neighbors, promoting healthy and diverse lifestyles. The lighting design has been carefully planned to extend the service hours of public buildings from daytime to nighttime. With a design concept of convenience, people-friendliness, and a welcoming ambiance, the design team advocates a sustainable lighting strategy. The design team has adopted a "Smart lighting" approach that is green and low-carbon. This intelligent programming system features multiple lighting scene modes that can dynamically change with time, weather, and holidays, effectively reducing unnecessary energy waste while showcasing the diversity of night scenes.
