Entry Description

Qianmen Street is one of the important sections of Beijing's central axis, approximately 800 meters long from north to south, and is one of the commercial streets with a century old history in the world. This project aims to create a world-class cultural heritage and is a night tour project that stimulates the vitality of the city at night and inherits Beijing culture.

The lighting design highlights the layering of the axis. Brightness of buildings along the central axis: landmark positive gate>buildings on both sides>landscape. The brightness of the building: roof>bottom shops>middle, forming a double U-shaped layout.

Provide comprehensive renovation of lighting, advertising, roof cleaning, and infrastructure improvement. Through five aspects of shape, material, color, light and shadow, and texture, further highlight the characteristics of traditional, Republic of China, and Qing Dynasty architecture.

Enhance the night travel experience and commercial prosperity atmosphere, and tell the century old stories of dozens of old brands through the interaction between trams and scenes, ground projection, window display, and other methods.

In the first Spring Festival after the completion of the project, the night passenger flow of Qianmen Street reached 908000 people, receiving praise from tourists and the media, and becoming a landmark of Beijing's night economy.
Sustainability Approach

Analyze the characteristics of the building and determine the brightness order based on the visual perception from the pedestrian perspective. For example, if there are a large number of trees blocking the central area of some buildings, the lighting can be correspondingly weakened to save energy.
Conduct quality and safety inspections on old facilities, utilizing existing qualified lighting equipment, pipelines, cables, etc. to reduce secondary construction.
Utilize professional lighting simulation software to assist in design, select appropriate lighting parameters and layout methods, and achieve scientific configuration of lighting fixtures. And choose LED lamps with high energy efficiency and low energy consumption.
Use the control system to divide lighting into three effects: weekdays, general holidays, and major holidays, reducing power consumption and effectively saving energy.
