Entry Description

The lighting design for the Printemps store in Doha aims to create the ultimate destination for luxury goods in the Middle East. The client's vision was to establish a store that exuded opulence and sophistication, elevating the shopping experience for customers. To fulfill this vision, the lighting design incorporates a combination of strong directional lighting, warm colour temperatures, and a consistent design language throughout the entire store. Strong directional lighting plays a crucial role in highlighting specific areas and products within the store. This approach ensures that the merchandise iss showcased effectively, capturing the attention of customers and emphasizing the luxury of the goods. The carefully positioned lighting fixtures accentuate the store's architectural elements, such as columns, arches, and display shelves, adding to the overall visual appeal and creating a sense of grandeur.
To further enhance the store's ambiance, warm color temperatures were chosen with the hues adding a touch of coziness and sophistication, creating an inviting atmosphere for customers. This choice of colour temperature complements the luxurious nature of the store, fostering an environment that resonates with the high-end products on offer. Maintaining a consistent design language was crucial to ensure a cohesive visual identity throughout the store.
Sustainability Approach

In order to meet the demand for bright levels of illumination for the retail merchandising, a significant number of aimable lighting fixtures are used in tight clusters throughout, however for general environmental lighting there is an increased focus on ambient light by means of lighting architectural features of the space instead. This staggered approach of clusters of light and the combination with more ambient and indirect lighting helps to minimise overall quantities of fixtures throughout. Key to the design is also ensuring high energy to output efficiency for all lighting fixtures, and significant coordination with manufacturers and vendors ensured that maximum impact was achieved.
